When it comes to marketing your business, nothing works like a good old fashioned poster. You might be thinking, “But I don’t know anything about art!” Or you might be thinking, “If I could just find a good design firm.” Neither of those things will stop you from being successful. Here are 5 tips for designing a best-selling poster that will have your target market begging for more.

1. Keep it simple

One of the most important things to remember when designing a poster is to keep it simple. You don’t need anything elaborate or overly thought-out in order for your poster to be successful. It’s better to have one idea successfully communicated than five ideas that are poorly communicated. Focus on one message and make sure that the words you use are clear and concise.

2. Establish your target audience

Before you even start designing your poster, you need to figure out who you’re trying to attract. You might be targeting millennials or seniors, people with a certain financial status (or lack thereof), or people who want to invest in your company. Ask yourself what demographic would be interested in what you’re selling.

3. Show, don’t tell

It’s important to show your target market what they can get from your products and services instead of telling them all about it. For example, instead of simply saying “we offer a wide variety of fresh produce, organic goods, and healthy foods” you should show that in the poster. One way to do this is by including a photo or drawing of all the food you sell.

4. Incorporate emotional elements

Poster design is all about emotion. The more you can get your viewers to feel, the better. If you can evoke a feeling of confusion, frustration, anger, or elation in just one glance, then you’ve got it goin’ on! Incorporating emotional elements into your poster design will help people identify with it and make them want to buy it.

5. Image and layout take precedence

The layout of your poster is key to capturing the attention of your audience. You want to make sure that you create an image that is bold and engaging to draw people in, but also make sure it is professional and high-quality so people will trust you. Your layout should be clean, organized, and easy to read. You don’t want to overwhelm your audience with too much text or too many colors on a busy background. Just make sure there’s enough contrast between the text and the background so people can easily read everything. It’s best to keep your layout simple. For example, if you want to communicate several messages, use a single image with a caption for each message instead of several images with captions next to them (unless those images are connected). Otherwise, people might get confused about which message they are supposed to read first. If you have a lot of information on your poster design, you may want to consider adding some white space so everything is easier for people to read without being so cluttered. Conclusion Keep It Simple The first thing you’ll want to do is think about your poster. What are you trying to advertise? Make a list of what you want on the poster. When it comes to designing your product, less is more. Limit it to the most important few things, preferably just one or two key points.
